ARRIVE IN KIGALI, RWANDA
Arrive in Kigali, the city of endless hills and greenery, transfer to your hotel. The legacy of hospitality in Rwanda for more than 40 years, Hôtel des Mille Collines was inaugurated in 1973 as the premier grand hotel in Rwanda. Located in the central business district, the hotel allows you to enjoy the breathtaking views over the hills of Kigali while indulging in culinary delights from casual to fine dining, international cuisine to local signature dishes! Decorative art pieces are displayed at the hotel for sale and a Cultural Night held every Friday evening for live performances of themed Rwandan cultural song and dance.
Enjoy an evening of leisure.
CITY TOUR & CULTURAL IMMERSION – KIGALI CITY
This morning, pay an emotional visit to the Genocide Memorial Site, and learn how the country has dealt with its past and recovered to become a testament to humankind’s resilience. Drive in the direction of the Volcanoes National Park and immerse yourself in Ibilwachu loosely meaning “our way of life,’’ and be surprised by Rwanda’s resilient culture. Savor coffee made from the beans you roasted while indulging with the locals. Check into your accommodation, offering unmatched wilderness immersion, a sustainably luxurious rainforest-based lodge offering Africa’s most thrilling wild primate experience.
WILD MOUNTAIN GORILLAS – VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
Drive to Volcanoes National Park headquarters and join your gorilla-trekking group. With help from your park guide, traverse the dense forest until you come face-to-face with a local gorilla family. Observe them as they play, forage and rest in the shade of the trees. You are given one hour to spend in the presence of these magnificent animals, marveling at their behavior like our own
OPTIONAL CULTURAL EXPERIENCE – TRANSFER TO SERENGETI IN KOGATENDE, TANZANIA
Early morning transfers to Kigali International airport for your flight to Kogatende Airstrip-Tanzania. You are driven directly to the hotel for check in. Located next to the famous Grumeti River which is home to resident hippos that bark and wallow their days away, Serengeti Migration Camp is synonymous with low-impact high-action game viewing in a landscape that is untouched since the dawn of time. Spend the evening stargazing with endless roars of lions throughout the night.
THE BIG FIVE & THE DARWIN SURVIVAL THEORY – SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
Internationally renowned for the greatest wildlife spectacle on the planet, The Serengeti National Park located in north west Tanzania is the ultimate ‘wildlife show’ on earth. World over, authors and filmmakers have documented the Annual Migration of hundreds of thousands of animals, but there is still only one way to appreciate and experience the true magnificence of this natural phenomena; be part of it.
Rediscover the Serengeti treasures for two days, indulging in both morning and afternoon game viewing in this vast, sun-drenched region. Rivers flow through the park, providing habitats for a variety of birds, mammals and reptiles, while antelope can be seen feeding on the plains. Search for Africa’s iconic Big Five, (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and Cape buffalo) as well as the lesser-known but fascinating Little Five (ant lion, leopard tortoise, elephant shrew, rhinoceros beetle and buffalo weaver), which may be hiding behind a stone or resting on an acacia branch. Return to your camp each day beneath a golden sunset.
SCHEDULED FLIGHT TO KILIMANJARO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
