TRANSFER TO KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK – PRIMATE CAPITAL OF THE WORLD!
Following a healthy breakfast, you’ll depart to Kibaale where you will be introduced to Kyaninga Lodge, your residence for the next two days. Later you will take an optional walk to Bunyangabu Crater.
CHIMPANZEE TREKKING/ HABITUATION
Today, visit Kibale forest, home to over 11 species of primates, a rich bird life of close to 370 species and an array of butterflies. After breakfast, we will advance for our chimpanzee trek, traversing the eternally surreal Ituri Rainforest. Watch the tailends chimpanzees dissipate into the forests as they sense a human presence along the trail. Later in the afternoon, you may go on a guided primate walk in the Bigodi Forest swamp.
CRATER EXPLORATION AND TRANSFER TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Explore the scenic beauty of the Ndali Kasenda crater family that boasts of lush vegetation and clear water basins born of varied volcanic eruptions. This breath-taking scenery is only rivaled by the sound of baboon grunts and a choiresque bird symphony. Later in the day, you will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth National Park before enjoying a relaxing evening at the lodge.
This program entails active elements such as hiking through isolated jungle regions.
FULL DAY QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Enjoy a day of game drives through Queen Elizabeth National Park, home to elephants, lions, hippos, buffalo and baboons. You may also sight some of Uganda’s largest elephant herds. Prepare to be soothed by the sight on some of the estate ranges in one of Uganda’s major tea growth areas.
FULL DAY QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK AND ISHASHA
Enjoy another day at Queen Elizabeth National Park, traversing the famous Ishasha region, home to the tree-climbing lions, a sight seldom seen anywhere else in Africa. TRANSFER TO BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK
Set out for a morning game drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park. Make your way out of the Rift Valley through the Kigezi Highlands and on to the mountains of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spend the day tracking endangered mountain gorillas, spending close to two hours among them. See mothers keeping infants close as they knuckle walk on three limbs. Watch scampering toddlers reined in by an attentive father, who takes his job as protector of the family, quite personally. The distinct behaviour of a mountain gorilla in the wild will demonstrate the bond that exists between primate and man — and not escaping the poignant fact these creatures lie on the brink of extinction.
