ARRIVE NAIROBI, KENYA
Arrive in Nairobi and transfer to your hotel, a charming hideaway secluded just steps from downtown.
TRANSFER TO NAKURU
After breakfast, depart for Lake Nakuru National Park as we make a stop at Thompson Falls, which is named after Joseph Thompson, one of the first European explorers who walked from Mombasa to Lake Victoria in the 1880s.
FULL DAY IN NAKURU
After an early hot breakfast, we will headout and enjoy an early game drive through Nakuru Park, encountering the equator several times as we traverse the vast park, spotting remarkable wildlife species like the rare Rothschild’s giraffe, famous for its 5 horns and clear shanks; large predators like lions; leopards and pythons. Other game include the Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelle, the long-eared leaf-nosed bat, colobus monkey, rock hyrax, hippo, and waterbuck.
TRANSFER TO NAIVASHA
Enjoy an early sumptuous breakfast and a game drive as you depart for Hells Gate National Park in Naivasha. You may encounter one of the ‘Big Five’ in the exceedingly rare white rhino and you may also chance on a swarm of fluffy pink flamingos. In the afternoon, go for an hour’s boat ride on Lake Naivasha to continue your bird watching spree and a joyous hippo viewing experience.
NAIVASHA AND MASAI-MARA
Today, you will enjoy another day in Naivasha, including an exhilarating 3 hour game drive and a possible glimpse of ‘the Big Five’ (lions, elephants, Cape buffalo, leopards and rhinos) and a biking safari through hell’s gate. Later, you will fly to the Masai Mara and transfer to your tented safari tent over the panoramic bend in the Talek River and Beyond.
MASAI-MARA
You will explore two types of savannas; the open and woodland. You will make your way across the tree-fringed rivers of the Masai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives. With 583 square miles, the park promises a host of pleasures including a revelation of leopards retrieving kills from acacia branches, or elephants protecting their young from opportunistic lions. This large expanse is also bound to unveil huge numbers of bird and mammal species that will illuminate the game viewing experience in the Mara. You will also pay a private visit to a Maasai village to learn about local customs and daily life, or enjoy a guided nature walk with the camp’s resident naturalist.
BACK TO NAIROBI AND DEPARTURE
Drive to Nairobi and relax in your reserved dayroom. Later, you are transferred to the airport for your homebound departure.
