Today you fly to Seronera, a place whose name has its roots from the Masai word ‘siron’, roughly translating to bat-eared fox home to small predators like the mongoose, serval, fox, caracal and jackal. Popularly known for the Serengeti Lion Project, Seronera is the oldest lion research project in Africa, with a perfect mix of predators including larger ones like the lion, leopard and cheetah. This 200 square mile valley of meandering rivers wouldn’t be the predator haven it is without the existence of perfectly sized prey including the impala, buffalo, giraffe, wildebeest and a host of other herbivores for all predators to live comfortably.
